December 29: Everything To Live For

Scripture

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.” -1 Peter 1:3-5 (The Message Bible)

What a God we have, and what a gift it is to belong to Him. Peter’s words rise from a place of deep gratitude and joy because they are anchored in the resurrection of Jesus. Because Christ has been raised from the dead, we have been given a brand-new life. This is not a fragile hope or something we have to hold together by sheer effort. It is a living hope, born from God’s mercy and secured by His faithfulness.

That new life means we truly have everything to live for. Our hope is not something reserved only for the future. It begins here and now, shaping the way we walk through each day. Even in a world that is still broken, God’s life is already at work within us. His future has begun to touch the present, giving us strength for today and confidence for what lies ahead.

Until the day when all things are fully restored, we walk as disciples of Jesus. And by God’s grace we do not walk alone, and we do not walk without purpose. As we follow Him, His love naturally flows through us to others. In simple and faithful ways, God uses our lives to bring glimpses of healing, grace, and hope into places that desperately need them.

All the while, God is near. He is keeping careful watch over us and over the future He has promised. Even when we cannot see what He is doing, He is at work in and through us, shaping us and using us in quiet but meaningful ways. We live with confidence, not drifting or standing still, but walking forward in faith. The day is coming when everything will be made whole, and until that day, we live with purpose, following Jesus and reflecting His life and love in the world around us.

Reflection
1. How does being reminded that your hope is living and secure encourage you in your current season of life?

2. Where do you need to be reassured that God is near and actively watching over you, even when progress feels slow or unseen?

3. How might God be inviting you to live with gentle confidence and purpose as you follow Jesus today?

Prayer
Thank God for the living hope you have through the resurrection of Jesus. Pray for a renewed sense of purpose and trust as you walk with Him, confident that your future and your life are held securely in His hands.
