November 13: He Entered Our World

Scripture
“He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn, not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”
—John 1:10–14 (NLT)

Reflection
John opens his Gospel with an incredible truth: the eternal Word, who was with God and was God, entered the world He Himself created. The Creator took on flesh and walked among His creation. Yet the world didn’t recognize Him. Those who should have known Him best, the religious leaders who studied the Scriptures day and night, were blinded by their own self-righteousness and missed the very One the Scriptures pointed to. It is a sobering reminder that religion without relationship can leave us blind to the presence of God right in front of us.

But even as many rejected Him, John reminds us that “to all who believed and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.” This is the heart of the gospel. The invitation is open to everyone. We do not earn it through performance or lineage. It comes through faith, a new birth, not from human effort, but from the Spirit of God. Through Jesus, we are adopted into the family of God, fully loved and fully known.

When John says, “The Word became human and made His home among us,” he reveals something profound about God’s character. He did not stay distant or detached. He entered our world, our pain, and our experience. He came not only to die for us but to live among us, to show us what it means to live in constant communion with the Father. Every word He spoke, every act of compassion, every miracle was an expression of the Kingdom life we were made for.

“He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.” When we truly receive His love, it transforms how we live and how we love. The same Jesus who once walked among us now lives within us, still full of unfailing love and faithfulness. What would it look like if others could catch a glimpse of His love through your kindness, your patience, your presence? May you walk today aware that Christ has made His home in you, and that through you, He is still making Himself known to the world.

Reflection
1. In what ways might you be missing God’s presence because of distraction, pride, or routine?

2. How does knowing that you are God’s beloved child change the way you view yourself and others?

3. What would it look like for you to reflect Jesus’ unfailing love and faithfulness in your daily life?

Prayer
Thank God for sending His Son to live among us and reveal the Father’s heart. Ask Him to open your eyes to recognize His presence in your daily life. Pray that His love and faithfulness would fill you so completely that others see His love through you.
