October 28: How Convinced Are You?

Scripture
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
—Romans 8:38–39 (NLT)

Paul doesn’t leave any room for doubt when he says he is convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love. And when he says nothing, he means nothing. Look at the list he gives: death, life, angels, demons, fears, worries, even the powers of hell. None of it has the strength to pull us away from the love of God.

The word convinced carries the idea of being absolutely certain or fully persuaded. Paul’s conviction wasn’t built on emotion or circumstance but on the unshakable truth of what God had done in Christ. The love of God was not just declared; it was revealed through Jesus. He came to rescue us from sin, free us from the grip of a passing world, and give us eternal life that can never be taken away.
When the world feels uncertain, or when fear whispers that God has forgotten you, remember Paul’s words. The love that saved you still holds you. It is stronger than death, deeper than fear, and more powerful than anything this world can throw your way.

Rest in that truth today. Let it quiet your worries and calm your heart. Nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus—not your failures, your past, your fears about the future, or even the powers of hell. As Charles Spurgeon once said, “The love of God is stronger than the power of death, deeper than the sorrow of life, and mightier than all the hosts of hell.”¹ Paul was convinced of that truth, and the question is… are you?

Reflection
1. What would it look like for you to live each day fully convinced of God’s love for you?

2. Which of the things Paul lists—fear, worry, or struggle—feels most real to you right now, and how does God’s love speak to it?

3. How can you remind yourself daily that nothing can separate you from God’s love?

Prayer
Thank God for His constant love that never lets you go. Ask Him to remind you of that truth when worry or fear begins to rise. Pray for the confidence to live each day convinced that nothing can separate you from Him.
