September 11: The God Who Cares and Carries

Scripture
“I have cared for you since you were born.
Yes, I carried you before you were born.
I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you.
“To whom will you compare me?
Who is my equal?”
Isaiah 46:3–5 (NLT)

Through Isaiah, God speaks words of deep reassurance to His people: “I carried you before you were born.” Before we took our first breath, God knew us, made us, and loved us. His care didn’t begin on the day of our birth; it has been there from the very beginning. This reminds us of David’s prayer in Psalm 139: “You knit me together in my mother’s womb… I am fearfully and wonderfully made”.

We often forget this truth. When life feels overwhelming, it’s easy to believe we’ve been abandoned or overlooked. But into that doubt comes God’s promise: “I will be your God throughout your lifetime.” From the cradle to gray hair, His presence never leaves us. What a powerful reminder that His faithfulness stretches across every season and circumstance of our lives.

And He doesn’t just watch over us from afar. He says, “I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Jesus echoed this same promise when He told us to seek first His Kingdom, and all our needs would be met. When we stumble under life’s weight, God doesn’t step back, He carries us. Like the familiar image of footprints in the sand, when we see only one set of tracks, it’s because He is holding us in His arms.

So, who can compare with our God? No one. He is a loving Father, our ever-present help in time of need. You are never forgotten, never forsaken, and never alone.

Today, may you rest in the truth that the God who made you will also carry you.

Reflection
1. How does knowing that God cared for you before you were born shape the way you see your life today?

2. In what areas are you tempted to feel forgotten or overlooked by God?

3. What burden are you holding that God is inviting you to release and let Him carry?

Prayer
Thank God for His lifelong care and love. Ask Him to help you trust His promise to carry you when life feels heavy and to remind you that you are never alone. Pray for a heart that rests in His faithful presence today.
