September 3: Wonderfully Made

Scripture
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!”
—Psalm 139:13–17 (NLT)

You are known. You are loved. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by Almighty God. David’s words remind us that no one is an accident, no one is overlooked, and no one is forgotten. Every life is God’s idea, carefully woven together by His own hands.

David imagines God as a skilled artisan, knitting him together in secret, forming his frame in the quiet darkness of the womb. The same God who breathed galaxies into existence also stooped crafted you with care. Paul echoes this in Ephesians, calling us God’s “masterpiece,” created in Christ to do good works He prepared in advance. That means your life carries divine intention. You are here on purpose, for His purpose.

And because He is sovereign, all our days are known to Him. Nothing catches Him by surprise. The God who made you is also the God who holds you. His thoughts about you are countless and precious. That means you don’t have to live bound by worry or fear. The One who formed you desires to lead you, step by step, even through the darkest valleys.

David ends where we must end as well—with trust. If the God who created us also ordains our days, then we can rest in His care. Life may not always make sense, but we are never out of His hands. The One who knit you together is the same One who holds you together. He goes before you and walks beside you. And when you follow the Good Shepherd, you can walk with confidence that every step has meaning, every moment is secure, and the story He is writing for your life will end in His glory and ultimately your good.

Reflection
1. What does it mean to you personally that God knit you together and formed you with intention?

2. In what areas of your life do you struggle to believe that God’s thoughts toward you are precious and countless?

3. How might remembering God’s sovereignty over your days free you from fear or anxiety?

Prayer
Thank God that He made you intentionally and with purpose. Ask Him to help you see yourself through His eyes as His masterpiece. Pray for deeper trust in His care and sovereignty over every day of your life.
